asked the Minister for Labour if he will give details of all AnCO offices, centres and units throughout the country; the number of staff in each grade; and if he will give a general report on the activities of each.

AnCO provide training for industry through a countrywide network of 18 permanent training centres and two temporary training centres administered from Dublin.

I propose to circulate in the Official Report a tabular statement of the location of AnCO offices, training centres and the number of staff by grade in each.

The tabular statement also give a general indication of the activities at the AnCO headquarters and the training centres. A detailed breakdown of courses held in each training centre could not be prepared in the time available. I will arrange to have the information forwarded to the Deputy.

Following is the statement:

AnCO OFFICES AND ACTIVITIES

AnCO Headquarters—Dublin

AnCO's administrative headquarters in Dublin is comprised of two main offices.

(1) Head Office—Dublin

The staff located in AnCO headquarters provide the following services

—general support and administrative services for the organisation

—apprenticeship services

—the provision of external training courses

—administration of the training centre network.

(2) Trainee Recruitment Centre—Dublin undertakes the recruitment of trainees for AnCO courses run in training centres in the Dublin area.

National Network

AnCO have a network of 18 permanent training centres located throughout Ireland in the following areas

Athlone

Dundalk

Cork

Galway

Dublin Region

Gweedore

—Baldoyle

Letterkenny

—Ballyfermot

Limerick

—Cabra

Shannon

—Finglas

Sligo

—Jervis St.

Tralee

—Loughlinstown

Waterford

—Tallaght

AnCO's training centres are engaged in similar activities i.e. they provide facilities for the training and retraining of unemployed workers, redundant workers, workers wishing to update their skills or change their careers and also the training of first-time job seekers.

The number of courses available in a centre may in some instances be supplemented by courses provided through temporary training units.

At present AnCO have temporary units in Ballina and Wexford.

Regional Offices

AnCO also have a number of their training advisory staff located in specific training centres in Cork, Limerick, Galway, Dundalk, Sligo, Shannon, Tralee, Letterkenny and Waterford.

The training advisory staff located in these regional offices advise local companies on matters relating to the training and development of their staff.
