asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry if he received reports that widespread overcharging for meals, accommodation and refreshments took place in Dublin during the weekend 15-16 February 1986 on the occasion of the world boxing title contest and the rugby international; and, if so, the action he proposes to take.
Written Answers. - Investigation of Overcharging.

I have not received reports of overcharging during the weekend in question.
Under the Tourist Traffic Acts, Bord Fáilte have a statutory role to regulate charges for accommodation and meals levied by registered providers of accommodation. Should any complaints of overcharging be brought to my notice, I will ensure that they are fully investigated by Bord Fáilte who are empowered under the Acts to take action where authorised maximum charges have been exceeded.
