Vol. 365 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

88.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £2,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare, whose home was inspected and passed on 20 January 1986; and the reason for the delay in payment, having regard to the fact that payment has been made in respect of other houses inspected and passed in January 1986.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £5,000 tenant purchaser grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 17; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The processing of applications for the grant is a matter for the appropriate local authority up to the stage of certification for payment. A certificate by the local authority confirming that this applicant has complied with all the conditions for payment of the grant has not yet been received in my Department.

91.

asked the Minister for the Environment if persons (details supplied) in County Wexford will be approved for a new house grant on the basis of the plans submitted; and if these plans conform with the recent change in regulations relating to garage sizes for such new houses.

A grant cannot be approved on the basis of the plans submitted as they do not conform to the requirements with regard to garage size. The person named has been so informed.

92.

asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will be given to a house improvement grant application for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if it will be at the maximum rate.

Grants totalling £2,360 have been approved in this case and the applicant has been notified accordingly. The approval represents a maximum grant of £800 for the installation of bathroom facilities and the balance relates to a grant of two-thirds of the approved cost of the construction of a kitchen extension.

93.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment if he will increase the house improvement grant under the new scheme in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

This applicant will be considered for an increased grant under the 1985 scheme if he completes and returns the application form that was issued to him by the Department on 8 November last and the new application is found to comply with the conditions of that scheme. Alternatively he may wish to furnish a fresh application for consideration at this stage.

94.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and all the conditions of the grant scheme have been fulfilled. An inspection will be carried out within the next two weeks.

95.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason approval has not issued for the provision of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

An application was received in this case on 26 July, 1983 and it was refused on the grounds that a previous grant had been paid in respect of the house within the stipulated waiting period. The applicant was so informed on 29 August 1983 and she was invited to request a review of her eligibility when the waiting period would elapse in September 1985 if she wished to defer commencing the work in the meantime. No further communication was, however, received by the Department in the case. If the particular works still remain to be carried out it is open to the person concerned to furnish an application for a grant under the current scheme to the Department.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be paid when the person named submits to my Department the subsidy claim form, duly completed and certified by the relevant lending agency.
