Vol. 365 No. 5

Written Answers - Cabinteely (Dublin) School.

64.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date proposals regarding the new school in The Park Estate, Cabinteely; the reason for the delay; when it will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has agreed to grant aid the provision of a new national school building in The Park Estate, Cabinteely, County Dublin, which accommodation will replace the prefabricated element in the existing boys' and girls' national schools in Cornelscourt.

The examination of the tenders forwarded by the school authorities has been completed and I expect to be in a position to give a decision at an early date as to when the project may be released to contract.

The delay in conveying an authorisation to place a contract is due to the fact that this project is one of a large number, the release of which to contract must be ordered in such fashion that the capital funds provided to my Department for national school building in the current financial year will be adequate to sustain regular grant payments as soon as construction work has begun.
