Statistics of fertiliser usage are compiled for the 12 month period July to June. The figure for 1984-85 was 1.7 million tonnes. Apart from material imported as ingredients for the manufacture of home-produced fertilisers, the quantity of finished fertiliser imported in the 1984-85 season was 0.4 million tonnes which represented 23.5 per cent of total usage.
