While a comprehensive national survey of zinc deficiency in cereals has not been carried out, I understand that An Foras Talúntais have diagnosed areas of zinc deficiency in Counties Louth, Meath, Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny and Wexford. There is evidence that a spray of zinc sulphate on affected crops can substantially increase grain yields.
