Vol. 369 No. 9

Written Answers. - Family Planning Services.

36.

asked the Minister for Health if he intends to take any legislative action to deal with the anomaly which prevents chemist shops, owned by limited companies, from selling contraceptives; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Health (Family Planning) (Amendment) Act, 1985, removed most of the serious anomalies relating to the provision of family planning services. I am aware of the remaining anomaly to which the Deputy refers. While I wish to see that anomaly removed, I am not in a position to say when the necessary legislation might be introduced.
