Vol. 370 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

41.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Country Wexford.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of house improvement grants which have been inspected and passed for final payment: the total sum involved: and when payment will be made.

43.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will state the delay between the final inspection and approval for house improvement payments and the date of payment.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 42 and 43 together.

Since grant applications in respect of which works have been completed may be at various stages of processing, information regarding the number and value of grant payments which are pending at a particular time is not readily available. Payment of grants is made to the applicants as soon as possible after final inspection but generally within a period of about six weeks. It occasionally arises in particular cases that a longer period is involved due to the necessity for additional information, checking etc.

44.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a house improvement grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

Payment of the grant will be further considered when evidence submitted in relation to the suitability of the roofing material used has been examined.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the payment of a mortgage subsidy of £800 to a person (details supplied) in County Laois.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a surrender grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The grant will be paid within the next few weeks.

48.

asked the Minister for the Environment if an inspection of housing circumstances can be arranged for a person (details supplied) in County Galway who has applied for a house improvement grant.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a condition of the house improvement grants scheme, a period of ten years had not elapsed since the payment of a new house grant on 4 October 1978.
