Vol. 370 No. 15

Written Answers. - St. Brendan's Hospital, Grangegorman.

57.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make an upto-date statement concerning fire safety for patients in St. Brendan's Hospital, Grangegorman, Dublin 7, including reference to the request by the Eastern Health Board under section 22 of the Fire Services Act, 1981, to the hospital to submit certain plans, and events arising therefrom.

In accordance with the Fire Services Act, 1981, responsibility for fire safety in St. Brendan's Hospital, Grangegorman, rests with the Eastern Health Board which has control of the establishment. I understand that fire safety works have been, and are continuing to be carried out in the hospital as part of the board's programme for the up-grading of fire protection there. I also understand that Dublin Corporation, the fire authority concerned, had asked for plans of the buildings; that certain plans have been provided to date, and, that further plans are now being provided.
