Vol. 372 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Road Lighting.

15.

asked the Minister for the Environment if Waterford County Council has sought his permission for the provision of public lights on the national primary road from Burgery, Dungarvan, to the built-up area on the Waterford road.

The provision of traffic route lighting at this location is being considered in my Department in conjunction with proposals for traffic route lighting generally on the Dungarvan by-pass. These proposals were received in the Department on April 1987 and there will be no undue delay in notifying the local authority of the Department's decision in the matter.

Will the Minister say whether the necessary finances have been provided for in the allocation to the local authority involved for 1987?

This is a specific question which deals with public lights on a primary road in County Waterford.

I am asking whether the finances necessary to fund that matter have been provided for in the allocation to the local authority for the year in question?

The proposals submitted by Waterford County Council was estimated at £130,000 but there is no estimate in regard to the particular part of the road as indicated in the Deputy's question. The council have been notified that a grant of £1.2 million will be made available for the Dungarvan by-pass and this aspect can be accommodated within that funding.
