Vol. 372 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Dublin Schools.

624.

asked the Minister for Education when sanction will be given for the construction of a second phase of Deansrath national school, Dublin 22.

My Department has agreed in principle to grant-aid an extension of the Deansrath national school, Dublin 22. The present accommodation is not yet full to capacity and the objective will be to have extra accommodation available for September 1988 when the demand will materialise. My Department will be in touch as soon as possible with the school authorities.

625.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the construction of Knocklyon community school, County Dublin, and if she will confirm that the school will be opening in September of 1988.

The architectural planning of the proposed new second level school for the Knocklyon area, County Dublin has been completed. However, there can be no assurance that the necessary funds can be made available to enable building operations to proceed in 1987.

This case is the subject of an urgent review currently being undertaken by my Department in the light of the capital allocation for 1987, the need for post-primary places in this general area, and my Department's other commitments and priorities.
