Because of the extent to which my Department's 1987 allocation of capital for the national school building programme had already been committed prior to my assuming office, I am not in a position at this stage to say when tenders will be invited for the new Protestant school in Lismore, County Waterford.
I will, however, be keeping under close review the rate of expenditure on national schools under construction, and if the possibility emerges within the current financial year of inviting tenders for the above project the required authorisation will be given.
