The refurbishment of these estates is being carried out under the remedial works scheme which is intended primarily for the refurbishment of rented local authority dwellings. However, tenant purchased dwellings in a particular estate may be included where it is necessary to do so to secure an acceptable overall result and provided a contribution towards the cost is forthcoming from the tenant purchasers. I understand that it is the intention of the corporation to refurbish the tenant-purchase dwellings in these estates if agreement can be reached with the purchasers on the financing of the works.
