Vol. 372 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Contributions Bill.

91.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 who is an old age contributory pensioner and has a small pension from work recently received a bill for £16 for health contributions.

The sum of £16 referred to is made up of a health contribution and a youth employment levy amounting to £8 each for the year ended 5 April 1987. The liability arose on bank deposit interest. The charges are based on estimated income of £800 as the person in question has not yet furnished a return of income for 1986-87 to the inspector of taxes. If and when such a return is furnished, any necessary revision in the charges will be made.
