The land in question is part of the canal property transferred to the Commissioners of Public Works under the Canals Act, 1986, to manage and maintain as an amenity for the use and recreation of the public. The commissioners are at present examining the property position in the area with a view to determining the best use for it compatible with their statutory duty. Until this has been done, no decision can be taken to dispose of any part of the property.
