asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has for the land purchased by the County Roscommon Vocational Education Committee under the approval of her Department, for the new vocational school in Castlerea which is not now going ahead; whether in view of the small land acreage on the site of the proposed new community school in Castlerea any of the land purchased by the Vocational Education Committee would be used to enhance the playing facilities alongside the community school; when work will commence on the new community school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I have not yet made a decision as to the disposal of the land which had been acquired for the vocational school. However, my Department is investigating the necessity to acquire additional land for the proposed new community school. The community school project is at an advanced stage of architectural planning but it is not possible at this stage to say when building construction will commence.
