I am aware that what might be termed "vigilante punishments" were administered, apparently by para-military activists, in Dundalk in mid-November last. Arising out of Garda investigations into the matter, one person has been charged and convicted of a firearms offence.
Garda strength at Dundalk station has been considerably increased in recent months and the Garda authorities inform me that they are satisfied with the present level of patrolling in the particular areas mentioned by the Deputy.
