Vol. 373 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Management Boards Representation.

223.

asked the Minister for Education the levels of representation provided for parent representatives on the management boards of primary schools, secondary schools, community/ comprehensive schools, vocational schools and community colleges.

The levels of representation provided for parents on the management boards of schools are generally as follows:

Primary Schools

Two parents representatives on a board totalling six or eight members, depending generally on the size of the school.

Secondary Schools

These are privately owned and managed and there is no official requirement to have management boards. Where boards have been set up they usually have two parents representatives.

Community Schools and Community Colleges

Two parents representatives.

Comprehensive Schools

There is no provision for parents representatives.

Vocational Schools

Two parents representatives.
