Vol. 373 No. 5

Written Answers. - Legislation on Licensed Premises.

27.

asked the Minister for Justice the proposals, if any, he has for changes to legislation in relation to premises whereby inspections of clubs have to be undertaken by members of the Garda not lower in rank than inspectors, having given advance notice of 24 hours at least, whereas inspections of other licensed premises can take place by any member of the Garda Síochána without notice; and the reason for such a distinction.

For reasons which have been explained recently in this House, I could not undertake to indicate by way of reply to parliamentary questions what specific legislative proposals I might have in a particular area. That being said, I will have the matter mentioned in the question examined in the context of an examination of the intoxicating liquor laws which is continuing in my Department.
