The total number of outstanding applications for grants for new national schools or major extensions is 700 approximately. The projects in question are at various stages of planning, from feasibility study to tenders lodged and under consideration.

With regard to second level schools there are approximately 170 projects, excluding those involving minor works or the provision of temporary accommodation, where architectural planning has commenced and which are at precontract stage.
