Following strong representations made by me the EC Commission have made a proposal for a limited extension of the western drainage scheme. This proposal now requires a decision of the Council of Ministers. Pending the outcome of this decision it is not possible to say whether grant aid can be paid in respect of works approved but not completed by 31 December 1986.
An announcement will be made as soon as possible.
