Vol. 374 No. 7

Written Answers. - Brownswood Hospital, Enniscorthy.

204.

asked the Minister for Health the amount of money spent on improvements to Brownswood Hospital, Enniscorthy, County Wexford during the past three years.

No funds have been made available by my Department in the past three years for improvements at Brownswood Hospital but I understand that a total of £51,260 has been spent by the South-Eastern Health Board on improvements since July 1984.

205.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the decision of the South-Eastern Health Board to lease Brownswood Hospital, Enniscorthy, County Wexford for private use; if his attention has been further drawn to the fact that patients admitted under the care of the South-Eastern Health Board have now been privatised; his views on this transfer of patients from the public to the private sector; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have not, as yet, received any formal request from the South-Eastern Health Board for my statutory consent to the lease of Brownswood Hospital and pending receipt of such request I do not propose to make any statement on the matter.
