Vol. 374 No. 7

Written Answers. - Ballyboughal (County Dublin) National School.

232.

asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction the construction of the replacement national school at Ballyboughal, County Dublin in view of the poor condition of the existing structure and the temporary nature of the pre-fabs being installed at present; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department accept that the present conditions in Ballyboughal National School, County Dublin, are unsatisfactory and have agreed to grant-aid a scheme of improvements at the school.

The school authorities have recently been authorised to proceed with the improvements and I understand that the works will commence shortly. Two prefabricated classrooms have recently been provided at the school with grant-aid from my Department and when the improvements have been completed, the facilities at the school will be satisfactory for the foreseeable future.

In the circumstances the provision of a replacement school does not arise and I understand the school authorities accept this.
