The position regarding the question of expanding the boards of management of comprehensive schools to provide for teacher and parent representation is that, prior to my becoming Minister for Education, a set of proposals in the matter was circulated to the interested parties with a view to agreement. However, agreement had not been reached.
I have instructed my Department to pursue this matter again with a view to arranging for representation of teachers and parents on the management boards.
