Vol. 374 No. 7

Written Answers. - Acceptable Temperatures in Schools.

234.

asked the Minister for Education the advice, if any, she will give to post-primary school boards of management, in regard to the minimum temperatures which she would consider acceptable in schools, from the point of view of pupils and teachers; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The arrangements in regard to the provision of an adequate minimum temperature in post-primary schools are a matter for the management authorities of the various schools i.e. the manager in the case of secondary schools, the board of management in the case of community and comprehensive schools and the vocational education committee in the case of vocational schools.

In those circumstances, I do not consider it appropriate for me to give any advice in the matter.
