Vol. 374 No. 7

Written Answers. - CAT Scanner.

24.

asked the Minister for Health the arrangements, if any, which have been made with the Western Health Board to bring the CAT scanner at Galway Regional Hospital into operation immediately; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have just recently been informed by the Western Health Board that engineers, from the manufacturers of the CAT scanner are at present conducting an evaluation of the equipment with a view to its early commissioning. The board expects to have a detailed report available to it within the next week or so. Subject to a satisfactory report being received, I am satisfied that the necessary arrangements to bring the CAT scanner into service will be made at an early date.
