Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

82.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of cattle headage grants to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The late father of the present applicant was paid 1986 cattle headage, calf premium and suckler cow grants in December 1986 and January 1987 and the payable orders have been cashed.

In order that he can be considered for payment of 1987 cattle grants, the present applicant has been requested to forward legal documents showing that he now owns the lands involved.

83.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of a farm improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A claim under the farm improvement programme for grant payment of £2,411 in respect of silage storage facilities and a slurry tank has been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. A further approval in respect of farm buildings was issued on 31 August 1987. Payment of an appropriate grant will be made when the work is satisfactorily completed to the Department's specifications and provided all conditions of the programme are fully complied with.

All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Due to existing budgetary constraints there may be some delay in making grant payments.

84.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if payment of a farm modernisation grant will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where the work has been approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A grant of £2,428 was paid on 7 October 1987. A further approval under the farm improvement programme in respect of farm buildings was issued recently. Payment of an appropriate grant will be made when the works have been satisfactorily completed to the Department's specifications and provided all the conditions of the programme are fully complied with. Because of budgetary constraints there may be some delay in making payment.
