Vol. 374 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

87.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a farm installation grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

Before eligibility under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers can be determined, a detailed investigation of each application must be carried out. In this case the investigation has not yet been completed. If the applicant is found to be eligible, payment of the premium will be made as soon as budgetary constraints permit and I will inform the Deputy at the appropriate time.

88.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of grants in respect of a silage slab, tank and a farm road will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

Claims under the farm improvement programme for payment of two grants in respect of a farm roadway and silage storage facilities respectively have been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Due to existing budgetary constraints there may be some delay in making grant payments.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a £5,600 installation grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan; if his attention has been drawn to the excessive delay in making these payments and the loss sustained by young farmers who undertake borrowings on the strength of these grants to start up their farms; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Before eligibility under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers can be determined, a detailed investigation of each application must be carried out. In addition, due to budgetary constraints there may be some delay in payments.

In the case mentioned processing of the application has been finalised and the applicant has been deemed eligible to participate in the scheme. Payment of the premium will be made as soon as budgetary constraints permit and I will inform the Deputy as the appropriate time.
