A redundancy-early retirement package has been offered to all professional and technical staff (658) in the forest service of my Department. As the closing date for receipt of the response to the offer is not until late November, I am not yet in a position to answer the Deputy's question. I will, however, be quite happy to deal with any further questions the Deputy may wish to put down at a later date.
Redeployment is a matter for the Department concerned rather than for individual staff. No staff in my Department have yet been considered for redeployment. Since 1 August 1987 five members of staff have applied for career breaks and all five applications have been granted
