Vol. 374 No. 11

Written Answers. - County Waterford Schools.

127.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed permanent extension to the Mercy Convent girls' national school at Kilmacthomas, County Waterford.

While the examination of tenders has been completed in respect of the proposed extension to Kilmacthomas girls' national school, County Waterford, I am not in a position, because of pressure on the capital resources available to my Department for national school building, to say when building work on the project may commence.

128.

asked the Minister for Education when new classrooms will be provided at the Church of Ireland national school, Lismore, County Waterford; and the plans, if any, she has to have repairs carried out in the interim.

In relation to the first part of the Deputy's question, I would refer him to the reply which I gave on 20 October, 1987 to a similar question in relation to the new classrooms for the Church of Ireland national school, Lismore, County Waterford.

My Department will be prepared to consider any reasonable request from the school authorites for financial assistance towards the cost of essential improvements to the existing school buildings.

129.

asked the Minister for Education if additional classrooms will be provided at Clashmore national school, County Waterford; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The question of providing additional classrooms at Clashmore national school, County Waterford, is being reviewed by my Department in the light of falling enrolments at the school.

My Department will be in touch with the school authorities when the review has been completed.
