Vol. 375 No. 8

Written Answers. - Courtmacsherry, Cork, Lifeboat.

93.

asked the Minister for the Marine if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties of Courtmacsherry lifeboat leaving port in County Cork at low tide; and if in these special circumstances he will sanction a grant of £50,000 to enable the necessary dredging operations to be undertaken.

The grant allocation from my Department to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution was doubled this year from £50,000 to £100,000 in order to provide assistance towards the cost of works such as necessary dredging of Courtmacsherry and to facilitate the operation of the lifeboat. The 1988 Estimates also provide for an allocation of £100,000. Budgetary considerations rule out the possibility of providing further State grants for works of this nature.

95.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a final instalment of a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan.

The fourth instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be paid as soon as possible. The fifth and final instalment will be paid when the applicant submits the claim form duly completed and certified by the lending agency.

97.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding a house improvement grant application of persons (details supplied) in County Kerry.

A grant cannot be allowed as an inspection had not been carried out on or before 27 March 1987.
