asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce (a) the names and addresses of all persons appointed to the boards of semi-State companies operating under his Department for each year between 1983 and 1987 inclusive (b) the remuneration paid to each person so appointed for each year between 1983 and 1987 inclusive and (c) the total cost of such remuneration for each year between 1983 and 1987 inclusive.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give details of the membership of each semi-State and State-sponsored body under his aegis giving the names, period of appointment and remuneration to date including all expenses paid and any other payment including foreign travel.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 123 and 124 together. The following tabular statement relates to the semi-State bodies which are under the aegis of my Department and sets out the information requested by the Deputies.
The question of expenses is a matter for the day-to-day administration of the bodies concerned but, as a general rule, board members are entitled to travelling expenses and subsistence allowances in respect of journeys undertaken to attend board meetings or transact board business.
The addresses of board members are confidential to the individuals concerned and therefore I consider it inappropriate to provide this information.
