Vol. 376 No. 9

Written Answers. - Taxation Income Statistics.

62.

asked the Minister for Finance the total estimated income from all forms of taxation in 1987; if he will break this figure down between the various categories, for example, PAYE, self-employed, VAT, capital taxation etc.; and if he will give the estimated tax revenue in 1987 for the various income tax bands and different VAT rates.

The estimated yield to the Exchequer from taxation classified into the standard tax heads for 1987 is published in the Government booklet entitled "Budget 1987" which is available in the Library. The standard tax heads shown in the 1987 budget booklet do not include a breakdown of income tax into its constituent parts, such as PAYE and self-employed. However, I supplied this breakdown of the 1987 income tax estimate to Deputy Barry Desmond on 20 October, 1987 in response to Parliamentary Question No. 28. I refer the Deputy to this reply. The 1987 outturn tax figures in the standard format will be available in early January in the end year Exchequer returns.

As regards the estimated amount of tax to be realised from each band, statistics showing the yield for 1987-88 by range of taxable income will not be available for some time.

As regards the breakdown of the 1987 VAT yield by VAT rate, this information will be published in due course in the relevant annual report of the Revenue Commissioners.
