Vol. 376 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Galway Drainage Scheme.

75.

asked the Minister for Finance the cost of completion of works on the drainage of the River Nanny drainage scheme, Tuam, County Galway; where the scheme is on the priority list; if there are any difficulties affecting Galway County Council on the drainage of the river; and if EC funds are available to complete this scheme.

The cost of completing works on the River Nanny, Tuam, County Galway is estimated at approximately £500,000. However, as drainage schemes currently being carried out will absorb all available funds for arterial drainage construction works for some considerable time to come there is little immediate prospect of carrying out works in the Nanny catchment.

Other than the temporary relocation, during scheme works, of the intake for Tuam town water supply, which has been discussed fully with Galway County Council, there are no difficulties affecting the council envisged in the scheme proposals for the River Nanny. There are no EC funds available at present to complete works on this scheme.
