Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Western Parkway.

238.

asked the Minister for the Environment in relation to the western parkway in Dublin if he will give details of the stage each of the three major sections of the parkway is at; when work is likely to start on each of the three parts; and when work is likely to be completed.

The position relating to each element of the western section of the Dublin Ring Road is as follows:—

1. Lucan Road-Navan Road

Work is about to commence on this element, which is being financed by the private sector. It is envisaged that work will be completed in 1990.

2. Tallaght Road-Lucan Road

Construction work is in progress on two bridges (over the railway and canal). Recently, I approved a proposal for the acceptance of a tender for the main contract involved. Work will commence shortly and it is envisaged that work will also be completed in 1990.

3. Lucan Road Interchange

On 23 November 1987, Dublin County Council submitted to my Department, for approval, draft contract documents for an interchange to connect the above elements of the Dublin Ring Road. These draft contract documents are under examination in the Department at present. Work on this separate contract is expected to commence later this year and to be completed towards the end of 1989.
