Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - Lismore (Waterford) School.

306.

asked the Minister for Education when it is intended to replace the present structures which constitute the Church of Ireland national school, Lismore, County Waterford; and the work it is intended to do in the meantime to put the classrooms, general structure and surrounds in a reasonable state of repair.

I would refer the Deputy to the replies which I gave to questions on 20 October 1987 and 5 November 1987 concerning the provision of new classroom accommodation at the Church of Ireland national school, Lismore, County Waterford.

A senior officer of my Department recently met the acting chairman of the school's board of management, and arising out of the discussions which took place it is the intention to put a set of modified plans to the school authorities for their consideration. These will take into account the fall in enrolments at the school since the original building project was first proposed and the necessity for economy in the provision of the accommodation now required. The question of interim improvements to the present structure will not now arise. I am making arrangements to have the Deputy informed of developments in due course.
