asked the Minister for Health if he will indicate the number of staff in his Department by grade and Department, of staff who have accepted voluntary redundancy or early retirement since 1 July 1987; and the number of persons by grade appointed to fill the consequential vacancies.

Fourteen officers in my Department have to date availed themselves of the early retirement scheme. The breakdown by grade is as follows: 1 Principal Officer; 6 Assistant Principals; 1 Messenger; 5 Higher Executive Officers; 1 Superintendent of Typists.
Discussions are currently being held with the Department of Finance concering the possible filling of some of the above mentioned vacancies.
