The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that balancing statements in respect of the years 1980-81, 1982-83, and 1985-86 and 1986-87 have been issued to the taxpayer showing his final liability for those years. Any tax found to be due to the taxpayer has been refunded to him or set against underpayments for the years 1971-72 to 1977-78. Arrangements have been made with the inspector to issue balancing statements for the other years referred to in the question. These statements will show the taxpayer his final tax position for those other years.
