asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Kerry will receive payment of a new house grant.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Kerry will receive payment of a house improvement grant.

An inspection with a view to payment of the grant will be carried out as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange payment of a house improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where all requested information has been forwarded to his Department together with notification that the house is now occupied.

The receipt of certain information requested from the applicant is awaited.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the first stage of a mortgage subsidy grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The receipt of additional information requested from the applicant is awaited.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the final payment of a mortgage subsidy will be issued to persons (details supplied) in County Waterford.

The third instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be paid when the applicant submits the claim form duly completed and certified by the lending agency.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a mortgage subsidy will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy was paid to the Housing Finance Agency on 26 February 1987. Arrangements will be made for payment of subsequent instalments when the applicant submits the appropriate claim forms duly completed and certified by the lending agency.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to persons (details supplied) in County Clare.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether it is now his Department's policy to seek clarification of all requests for house improvement grant payments despite the fact that specification has been complied with; the number of house improvement grant applicants that are being requested to submit additional information after they have requested payment; the total amount-value of such grants currently on hand; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for the Environment (a) the number and value of house improvement grants paid in the month ending 30 November, 1986 (b) the number and value of similar grants paid in the month ending 30 November, 1987 (c) the total number and value of grants revised downwards in period (a) and (d) the total number of grants revised downward in period (b); the reason for this downward revision; the total amount of money saved to the Exchequer by virtue of this downward revision in respect of the month ending 30 November 1987; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for the Environment (a) the total number and value of house improvement grants paid in the year ending 31 December 1987 and (b) the total number and value of house improvement grants unpaid for the same period; the number of inspections carried out in respect of each grant application for the year ending 31 December 1987; and the reason for the increased number of inspections as compared to the year ending 31 December 1986.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 191, 197, and 198 together.

It is my Department's practice to request additional information from applicants after receipt of payment claims only in cases where the information already supplied is inadequate to allow the appropriate grant to be paid. Apart from the details set out below, the remaining information requested by the Deputy is either not available in the Department or could be compiled only at a disproportionate cost.
