Vol. 378 No. 10

Written Answers. - By-Law Approval Fees.

62.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he intends to introduce legislation to control the fees charged by local authorities to a person seeking building by-law approval.

I have no proposals to introduce legislation along the lines suggested by the Deputy. However, the building control Bill provides both for the replacement of existing building by-laws by national building regulations and for the charging of fees in relation to building control matters to be controlled by me. This legislation which lapsed with the dissolution of the last Dáil has been restored to the Dáil Order Paper at Committee Stage.
