Written Answers. - Treatment for Patient.

84.

asked the Minister for Health if he is concerned that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 1, who was in an accident on 12 January, 1988, and who is in considerable pain and discomfort, has to wait until 10 May, 1988 before he can see a specialist at the Mater Hospital, Dublin 7; his views on whether this is satisfactory; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would like to explain that a person's place on a waiting list for treatment is a matter for the clinical decision of the consultant concerned and the hospital. I would suggest to the Deputy that the person (details supplied) should, if he feels his condition is deteriorating, return to his general practitioner who would be in the best position to stress the urgency of his case to the consultant concerned.
