Vol. 379 No. 6

Written Answers. - Arterial Drainage Schemes.

64.

asked the Minister for Finance the estimated amount of money it will be necessary to spend on the Bonet/Boyle arterial drainage scheme, County Roscommon, after 1988 to complete the schedule work in the catchment area.

It is estimated that it will cost approximately £10.6 million (at present prices) after 1988 to complete the scheduled works of the Boyle and Bonet catchment drainage schemes.

65.

asked the Minister for Finance the estimated amount of money it will be necessary to spend on the Monaghan Blackwater arterial drainage scheme after 1988 to complete the schedule work in the catchment area.

It is estimated that it will cost approximately £9.7 million (at present prices) after 1988 to complete the scheduled works of the Blackwater (Monaghan) catchment drainage scheme.

66.

asked the Minister for Finance if the proposed changes in the western package will have any effect on the recoupment from the EC to the Government for arterial drainage works in the disadvantaged areas; the present recoupment; and the improvements, if any, on the rate which is being sought by the Government or already negotiated.

As the Community measures whereby EC funds up to a limit of 50 per cent of eligible expenditure were made available for arterial drainage schemes expired in 1986, no further EC grants for arterial drainage are payable at this time. However, applications for further aid are under consideration.
