asked the Minister for the Marine if his attention has been drawn to the fact that consultants have been appointed for the reconstruction work at Ballast and Welshman's Quay, Drogheda, County Louth; that the full amounts of moneys required by his Department have been guaranteed by the Harbour Commissioners; if his Department will give sanction to the remaining moneys required to complete the reconstruction work; the amount of moneys he proposes to sanction; when the reconstruction work will commence; the duration of the contract; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have agreed a financial package with Drogheda Harbour Commissioners in respect of quay reconstruction works at Ballast and Welshman's quays, Drogheda Harbour, and I am in communication with the Minister for Finance regarding sanction for the proposed arrangements.
Without prejudice to the outcome on the financing proposals, Drogheda Harbour Commissioners have been requested to submit for my approval draft tender documentation in respect of the project. Until the financial package has been approved and tenders received it is not possible to say when the reconstruction works will commence or what the timescale for completion will be.
