asked the Minister for Education if she will allow St. Mary's boys national school, Haddington Road, Dublin 4 retain the services of their fourth assistant teacher (details supplied) having regard to (1) the catchment area in which the school is located (2) the deprived background of many of the pupils and (3) the fact that the school will have a projected enrolment figure of 148 on 1 September 1988, and is she will make a statement on the matter.

As the continuance of the post in question is not warranted under the new arrangements for teacher appointments in national schools from 1 September 1988, it would not be open to me to make an exception in this case.
