Vol. 382 No. 5

Written Answers. - UCC Adult Education Courses.

157.

asked the Minister for Education if she has any proposals to ensure that adult education courses at University College, Cork are not put at risk because of Government cutbacks which have affected the Vocational Education Committees' ability to support financially the courses held there, as confirmed in public by the President of University College, Cork.

The value of the courses in question is recognised and my hope is that University College, Cork, will be able to continue the courses despite the necessity for the Vocational Education Committees' involvement in them to be on a self-financing basis. In present circumstances, however, there is no action open to my Department to assist University College, Cork, in the matter.
