Standing instructions on civil servants and politics are embodied in official circulars issued in 1925, 1932, 1934 and 1974 and in a Government announcement of 6 March 1974. All civil servants are covered, with some distinctions as between various levels. Copies of the relevant documents have been placed in the Library of the Houses of the Oireachtas.
