I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer received a lump sum payment on cessation of his employment in February 1987. The inspector of taxes was unable to deal with the taxpayer's claim for a refund of tax until the taxpayer's Form P.60 for 1986-87 (employer's certificate of pay and tax deducted) was received in the tax office. This was submitted on 8 June 1988. The inspector has now certifed a repayment, and a cheque in settlement will be issued to the taxpayer as soon as possible.
