Vol. 382 No. 5

Written Answers. - Foley Equestrian Statue.

58.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the offer expressed by the purchaser of the bronze parts of John Henry Foley's Viscount Gough equestrian statue, he will assist in its return to Dublin provided that it is re-erected in a public place; if he will consult other interested persons in order that this very valuable work of a northside Dubliner be re-erected as part of the city's Millennium celebrations; if he will consider Mountjoy Square, Dublin 1, as a suitable location for it, in view of the fact that the sculptor was from nearby Foley Street; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As stated in response to previous questions in this regard it is not intended for the present at least to bring back the statue.
