Vol. 382 No. 5

Written Answers. - Bull Island (Dublin) Causeway.

117.

asked the Minister for the Environment if measures can be taken to ensure the free flow of water between Clontarf, Dublin 3 and Sutton, Dublin 13 under the causeway at Bull Island, Dublin Bay, as it is feared by local residents that the lack of this water flow, which appears to be restricted by the lack of the provision of piping to make it possible, has resulted in rapid sedimentation of the north-east side of the island; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The planning and development of any proposals for the improvement or alteration of this causeway, including the provision of finance, are matters for Dublin Corporation. The local authority may, at its discretion, use the block grant for roads, paid annually by my Department, to supplement expenditure from its own resources on such work.
