Vol. 383 No. 2

Written Answers. - Celbridge (County Kildare) Secondary School.

94.

asked the Minister for Education if and when funds will be made available for the provision of extra facilities at St. Wolstan's Holy Faith secondary school, Celbridge, County Kildare; if she will outline the extent of the facilities required thereat; if she will expedite the remaining process in this case; when works will commence on site; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The proposed extension to St. Wolstan's Post Primary School, Celbridge will consist of: 7 general classrooms; 1 social studies area; 1 science laboratory plus pre-resource area; 1 demonstration room; 2 domestic science rooms and 1 flat; 1 dress design and materials room; 1 P.E. hall; library, guidance suite; administration and ancillary accommodation. The extension will also involve work to the existing bantile building and to part of the Convent building to be retained for school purposes.

Architectural planning of the extension has reached Stage 3 (developed sketch scheme). I am not in a position to indicate at this time when construction work will commence, as the rate at which this and other such projects may advance is dependent on the availability of capital resources and on my Department's priorities and other commitments.
